This comfortable, beachfront property is situated on a spacious coconut plantation. Escape amongst untouched natural landscape boasting long, pristine white sandy bays, lush green forests and stunning views of uninhabited islands and breath-taking sunsets, with Lombok’s Mount Rinjani as a background. This is the place where one feels completely liberated from the drudges of daily life. Absorb the tranquility of this unspoiled area. Experience the culture of welcoming, happy local Indonesian people in their nearby traditional fishing village.
The lawn grounds are oversized and include a bamboo restaurant, hammocks strung between coconut palms, a modern playground and the actual accommodation, which is comprised mostly of family villas and a single longhouse towards the rear of the grounds which houses the standard and deluxe rooms. There are also a handful of rustic “surfer huts”, which are bamboo and rattan old-school shacks with shared bathroom facilities.
Whales & Waves is the only place to stay in this area so there is nobody else around to surf the variety of secret, empty world-class waves that work all year round. We provide an ideal space for multi-sport activities, adventure, relaxation and creativity. We welcome those wishing to use our facilities for purposes such as surf camps, yoga retreats, seminars and other conventions.

The deluxe room is a private air conditioned, spacious rounded-shaped room, with its own ensuite with a semi-open roof. The room size is 18m2 and can fit extra bed on request.
Three villas have two bedrooms (20m2), a spacious living room (40m2) equipped with a TV, fridge, and a large bathroom with a semi-open roof top.
We have 9 uncrowded surf breaks some of which are world-class, all within 10 minutes’ drive from Whales & Waves. These are suitable for beginner to advanced professional surfers. How to get there
Sumbawa, one of the 17.000 plus islands that make up Indonesia, is mainly known for its white sandy beaches and great waves. Not surprisingly, the majority of tourists is surfers on the lookout for huge swells and empty lineups. You can reach the island by public ferry or plane, departing fairly regularly from Bali, Lombok and Java.
Alternatively, Fly from Bali (Denpasar (DPS) for 50 minutes to Sumbawa Besar (SWQ), not BIMA! If you are flying to Lombok International Airport (LOP), you may also ride the public ferry to West Sumbawa Pototano Port.
