Amanjiwo (‘peaceful soul’) rests in the countryside of Central Java, with the Menoreh Hills rising directly behind. The resort faces the Kedu Plain, with clear views to Borobudur, the largest Buddhist sanctuary in the world, and Tidar, the mystic hill known as the geographic centre of the island. Four great volcanoes rise in the distance. The flower girls of Amanjiwo come from the surrounding villages. In their Javanese sarongs, they greet arriving guests with showers of rose petals.
